Building Community Resilience in Shikarpur

Project Summary

This activity seeks to address the ethnic and sectarian divides being perpetuated by VE groups in youth in Shikarpur. CRA will provide financial assistance to implement a 6-month long program to mitigate community level conflicts in order to reduce differences to increase acceptance and tolerance between diverse backgrounds. During this project community engagement activities such as community meetings, training of youth for conflict resolution, village level meetings and peace walks will be taking place. A total of 240 youth will be selected for the trainings.  The provision of this assistance will contribute towards increasing acceptance of diverse backgrounds in targeted communities thereby reducing ideological support for VE groups.

Nutrition Assistance and fodder distribution Project to drought affected area of Taluka Khipro funded by Concern-USAID

SRPO is implementing Nutrition project at Taluka Khipro District Sanghar with the support of Concern-USAID. Project has two dimensions on provision of fodder to animal, vaccination to 50000 animals and second to provide nutrition assistance to Severe Acute Malnourished Children and Pregnant and lactating women. SRPO has completed Village Assessment of Union councils Banko Chanhio and Kamil Hingoro ,Villages have been selected through Villages assessment from  and baseline house hold survey conducted to identify the benificiaries. Hence, after the finalization of village assessment and analysing data, 50 CNWs enlisted  as Community Nutrition Workers  in 50 Villages, Committee has been formed and also signed MoU with them respectively. after the selection of CNWs, SRPO with the consent of Health department district sanghar conducted trainings  of CNWs for the effective work in the community. SRPO started the Nutrition awareness sessions (IYCF sessions) among selected or targeted communities so far , IYCF sessions covering topics are Breast feeding, Health and Hygiene, Re-productive health, Mother & child care and vaccination. SRPO has also identified  and formed 15 Mother support groups for the promotion of breast feeding. In addition, screening through MUAC tape conducted of below 5 years children and pregnant and lactating women for the Identification of  SAM, MAM children and PLWs. All identified SAM, MAM and PLW have been reffered to OTP site for the nutrition support and their record has been maintained and shared with NSP and Donar.
