SRPO PROJECTS - CBT – Un-Conditional Cash Grant Flood Response Emergency Project funded by WFP in District Mirpurkhas

Project Overview: The Unconditional Cash Grant (UCG) component of the Flood Response Emergency Project is designed to provide immediate financial support to individuals and families who have been severely impacted by the recent flooding. The UCG aims to address urgent needs, restore livelihoods, and contribute to the overall recovery of flood-affected communities.

Key Objectives:

  • Provide immediate financial relief to vulnerable households affected by flooding.
  • Alleviate the immediate hardships caused by the disaster and support recovery efforts.
  • Enhance beneficiaries' resilience by allowing them to make decisions based on their own priorities.

Implementation Strategy:

  1. Beneficiary Identification:
    • Collaborate with local authorities, community leaders, and other stakeholders to identify eligible beneficiaries.
    • Prioritize households with the greatest needs, including those with vulnerable members.
  2. Cash Disbursement:
    • Provide a one-time cash grant directly to eligible households.
    • Ensure secure and transparent cash distribution mechanisms, considering mobile money, bank transfers, or community centers.
  3. Needs Assessment:
    • Conduct a rapid needs assessment to determine the amount of the cash grant.
    • Consider factors such as family size, immediate needs, and the cost of essential items.
  4. Monitoring and Evaluation:
    • Establish a monitoring system to track the use of the cash grant.
    • Conduct post-distribution monitoring to assess the impact of the grant on beneficiaries' well-being.
  5. Communication and Awareness:
    • Conduct sensitization campaigns to inform beneficiaries about the UCG program.
    • Clearly communicate the purpose, amount, and distribution process of the cash grant.
  6. Coordination and Collaboration:
    • Collaborate with local NGOs, government agencies, and humanitarian partners to ensure a coordinated response.
    • Share information and lessons learned to contribute to the broader flood response efforts.

Outcomes:

  • Immediate relief for vulnerable households, allowing them to meet urgent needs such as food, shelter, and medical expenses.
  • Enhanced household resilience by empowering beneficiaries to make decisions based on their unique circumstances.
  • Improved well-being and reduced financial stress among flood-affected families.
  • Contributed to the broader emergency response by providing timely assistance to those in need.
