I am writing to draw your urgent attention to the catastrophic floods that have devastated Pakistan in 2025,
leaving millions of vulnerable families in dire need of immediate humanitarian assistance.
Since late June, relentless monsoon rains, glacial outburst floods, and cross-border water inflows have
displaced over 210,000 people in Punjab alone and claimed at least 788 lives nationwide. Entire districts from Narowal to Muzaffargarh are submerged, while farmlands, livestock, and critical infrastructure have been destroyed. Communities are facing severe shortages of food, clean water, and shelter, while public health
threats such as dengue outbreaks, rabies deaths, and resurging polio compound the crisis.
Despite the lessons from the devastating 2022 floods, Pakistan’s disaster response remains constrained by
weak infrastructure, governance gaps, and fiscal limitations. Families forced into repeated cycles of
displacement are now struggling to survive without durable solutions. The destruction of crops, loss of
livelihoods, and erosion of farmlands have placed agricultural households at the brink of extreme poverty and food insecurity.
We urgently appeal for your support to respond to this unfolding humanitarian crisis. Priority needs include:
Emergency shelter, safe drinking water, and sanitation facilities.
Food security support and immediate cash assistance for displaced families.
Medical and veterinary services to prevent disease outbreaks and protect livelihoods.
Restoration of damaged schools, health centers, and community infrastructure.
Medium-term resilience measures, including community-based flood preparedness and climate
adaptive livelihoods.
Your timely contribution can help save lives, restore dignity, and build resilience for those most affected.
International solidarity is vital at this moment when Pakistan’s most vulnerable communities face yet another preventable tragedy.
